Anber Haq, LCSW

I provide compassionate, direct, and evidence-based therapy for individuals and couples in Arlington, VA and throughout Virginia, DC and Maryland via telehealth. I specialize in attachment issues, infidelity recovery, high-conflict relationships, anger management, anxiety, personality disorders, childhood trauma, and recovery from narcissistic abuse.

Many of the people I work with feel stuck in painful emotional patterns, repeated relationship conflict, emotional disconnection, trust issues, or unresolved trauma that continues to affect their daily lives and relationships. I help clients better understand the deeper emotional and relational dynamics that may be contributing to abandonment fears, anger, relationship struggles, fear of commitment, low self-worth, or difficulty maintaining healthy connections.

My approach is rooted in psychodynamic therapy and attachment-focused therapy. Together, we explore how past experiences, attachment wounds, family dynamics, and unconscious patterns continue to shape current emotions, behaviors, and relationships. Therapy is not only about symptom relief — it is also about developing greater self-awareness, emotional clarity, healthier relationships, and long-term meaningful change.

I work with both individuals and couples navigating issues related to communication problems, emotional intimacy, betrayal trauma, infidelity, abandonment fears, conflict cycles, and relationship instability. My style is active, direct, and insight-oriented while still creating a supportive and compassionate therapeutic space.

I offer online therapy in Arlington, VA as well as online therapy throughout Virginia, DC and Maryland. I am currently completing my doctorate in Psychology and pursuing advanced training in psychoanalytic therapy. If you are ready to begin working through these ongoing challenges and creating lasting change, I encourage you to reach out. I typically respond quickly to new inquiries.

Why did you become a therapist?

4

I love helping people and I strongly believe that people are good natured. Maybe I am naive in that way, and I can admit that, but I believe every one of us has something to give and something to grow from. The process of therapy reminds me of that and I love learning. Humans are fascinating and I love seeing people become better versions of themselves. So, I became a therapist so I could help and be part of that journey with as many people as possible.
